



SWAG will be holding a display at the Medway History Showcase this year. The venue is the Royal Engineers Museum, Gillingham on the 5th October. There is free entry for pre-booked tickets.

Do you want to learn the techniques that archaeologists use when they are researching where and how to excavate? Before you start to dig you need to get as much information as possible about your site so we use a variety of approaches to learn what we can.

It’s a free event, no need to book. Follow the arrows from the Shorne Woods Country Park (DA12 3HX) cafe to the site.

All ages welcome but under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Parking charges apply at the Shorne Wood Country Park.
As part of the Shorne Woods Country Park Fun Day SWAG will be repeating the success of last years Sand Pit Excavation and Make Your Own Tile activities.

In addition, we will have a display of fossils, some of which have been found in Kent.
Have you found anything that looks old? Then bring it along and we’ll try to identify it.
Come To Shorne Wood Country Park (DA12 3HX) between 10:30 am and 15:30 pm and join in. All ages welcome but under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
A mini dig was recently held in Gravesend. It was organised by Gravesham Council and sponsored by National Highways as part of the Lower Thames Crossing project.
The dig took place in Sussex Gardens close to the riverside. Many of the volunteers were local and were supported by SWAG members.
