Archaeology in Action event

Do you want to learn the techniques that archaeologists use when they are researching where and how to excavate? Before you start to dig you need to get as much information as possible about your site so we use a variety of approaches to learn what we can.

Come along to a SWAG event on Friday the 23rd August and learn about:

  • Ground penetrating radar (GPR)
  • Resistivity surveying
  • Dousing (yes really!)
  • Metal detecting

It’s a free event, no need to book. Follow the arrows from the Shorne Woods Country Park (DA12 3HX) cafe to the site.

All ages welcome but under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Parking charges apply at the Shorne Wood Country Park.
