Christmas Lunch

Our Christmas Lunch was held today at Shorne Woods, wrapping up SWAG for 2015. The company, food, drink and chocolates were superb. Phil treated us to a small concert and sing-a-long covering UK and American folk tunes, including one from local songwriter George Gilbert titled ‘Medway flows softly’. Thanks Phil.

Have a happy Christmas and see you all in 2016.

Randall Manor: end of an era

A huge thank you to all those who helped complete works at Randall Manor this week, bringing to a close our 10th season of work on the site.

Next week is our last week of activities at Shorne Woods for this year. The plan on Wednesday is for an invigorating morning stroll around the woods, identifying sites for possible test pit investigation in 2016…

On Thursday we have our Christmas lunch, 12.30 for 1pm dinner (will finish 3.30-4pm)…(bring your own beer/wine if you wish).

The Prehistoric Society Day Conference

From The Prehistoric Society:

The Land, the Sea and the Sky begins the series of spring day-conferences exploring new directions in the landscapes of prehistory. Our first session is about landscape in its widest sense – both physically and conceptually – and will range from the minutiae of the soil particle to the vastness of the night sky. Presentations will consider the impact of recently developed approaches to environmental history, remote sensing, seabed modelling, largescale survey, cosmology and the synthesis and interpretation of a truly staggering dataset. The emphasis is on connectivity: connectivity in terms of archaeological method and practice and in terms of prehistoric use and perception of the world – the land, the sea and the sky.
